The CDC is investigating a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis after 145 people across 20 states contracted the parasite, with 20 requiring hospitalization.

More than 170 Michiganders have contracted cyclosporiasis, a parasitic gastrointestinal illness that causes explosive, watery diarrhea.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has identified 174 cases of cyclosporiasis since June 22, more than three times the number the state typically records in an entire year.
