A miraculous rescue in Venezuela has brought a glimmer of hope amid the devastation caused by the earthquakes. An 18-day-old baby was found alive beneath the rubble of a collapsed building and reunited with the child's emotional father.

In Venezuela’s coastal state of La Guaira, which was hardest hit in the massive twin earthquakes on Wednesday, residents said they spent the night awake and reported that several people remained trapped in the rubble after severe damage to dozens of apartment buildings.

"It really is a terrifying thing, but what we are seeing right now is also an international mobilization at its very best," said a spokesperson for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
